The McKenzie Method or Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT)

What is the McKenzie Method?

It is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education used world-wide for treating back and neck pain.  It continues to be the most researched and evidence backed physical therapy based method available.  It can only properly be administered by a Certified McKenzie Practioner.

How is the McKenzie Method different?

Assessment:

The key distinction is in the initial assessment component regarding your neck or back problem.   This initial assessment is a safe and reliable means to accurately reach a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan.

Treatment:

We want to give you the power to control your pain.  Our treatment will be based on movements discovered during the initial assessment that abolish your pain.  These can be done frequently throughout the day to help you take control of your painful symptoms.

Preventive Strategy:

Most patients that respond to MDT can successfully treat themselves.  This limits the number of visits to the clinic and saves healthcare dollars.  By learning how to self treat, you can gain knowledge on how to minimize recurrence and quickly manage symptoms if they reappear.
